Doesn’t Time Fly?

Sunnyby Sunny (guest post), , 0 Comments

Four years ago, on January 20, 2012, I was born into the online world. My parents called me “Sunny,” a name that I’m actually very happy with. It could have been worse, at any rate (who wants to be called “Joe the Blog” or “Online Amanda”?).

Four years is not bad at all for a blog—especially here on the web where everything moves so fast. (How do you calculate blog years, for that matter? Multiplied by 7 like with cats? That would make me nearly 30 in real life.)

Anyway, I’m going to tell you how it all began.

This is what the site looked like back then (although I have only been able to find the German screenshot):
Ultramodern back then, but a little old-school by today’s standards, of course.

These were my parents:

They thought it would be a good idea to have a channel that could be used to explain rather more complex matters, that was a little less formal and where dialogue could take place. The first post was about my favorite topic, PV inverters.

And there have been plenty more posts since then: 673 articles have now been published on me. About photovoltaics, intelligent energy management, service tips, the energy transition and exciting reference projects.

But you haven’t been idle, either: Comments, questions, answers, praise and disagreement have been posted below the articles a total of 6,124 times.

Voilà: Your three bestsellers

What else interested you? These were the top 3 articles that you read the most:

#1: This comic video explains how you can consume solar energy directly in your house.selfconsumption

#2: A service tip

#3: And the third most read: A post about smart homes

My current hobby is learning new languages. In addition to German, I can now also speak Spanish, Italian and French. I’m still working on Turkish. I have already published a number of multi-lingual posts and I’m looking forward to international dialogue in the future.

Wanted: Your suggestions

So before I go off to celebrate my birthday, I would be interested to hear your opinions. Do you find my articles helpful? Is there anything you think is missing? If so, what? Please write to me in the Comments section.

Thanks, Leonie, Sarah and Julia for this nice picture :)
